Vi-Technik Unveils New North American Headquarters in Muncie, Indiana
MUNCIE, Ind.—Vi-Technik held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open its new North American headquarters in Muncie, Indiana. The company, based in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, specializes in rubber, plastic, and glazing components for the automotive, defense, and rail industries. Vi-Technik’s expertise in the Automotive Industry is linked to the design, development and production of plastic tech parts such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) camera brackets and tech sealing systems for glazing applications. Utilizing advanced technology and robotics in its manufacturing processes, Vi-Technik works in cooperation with top automotive manufacturers, primary industry suppliers, and other major global corporations.
Vi-Technik is settling into a 15,000-square-foot facility in the South Muncie Industria Center with plans to hire skilled technician associates as it establishes its manufacturing operations in Delaware County. Efforts are underway to recruit a manufacturing workforce for the production lines by the end of March 2025, ranging from 6 to 18 employees, with production expected to begin in June. Further employment opportunities will be created as production demand grows with additional US automotive programs currently in the development phase in the Italian HQ.
The decision to establish the headquarters in Muncie followed a series of discussions that began in April 2023 when Vi-Technik executives, including President and CEO Fabrizio Vito and Giacomo Calabria (President and CEO of the Holding Company controlling Vi-Technik Group), met virtually with representatives from the Delaware County Economic Development Team, the ECI Regional Planning District, and Delaware County Commissioners. The first in-person meeting took place in June 2023, further solidifying the relationship between the county, commissioners, and Vi-Technik. Although Vi-Technik considered other locations in the Midwest, they signed a memorandum of understanding in the fall of 2023, signaling their intention to select Delaware County for their new manufacturing facility and offices.
Vi-Technik originally began conversations about moving production to the U.S. in 2022 as part of Vi-Technik’s strategy to stay closer to their customer base, saving costs for clients and at the same time providing a presence on global platforms. “Bringing production to the U.S. allows us to optimize costs for our customers while staying close to the market,” said President and CEO Fabrizio Vito. “Our customers’ success is a key part of our business model, and this new production plant supports their needs and enables us to grow. We chose Delaware County because of the strong relationship we built with the County Commissioners and Economic Development Team. Their support and proven track record with other Italian companies made this the ideal location for Vi-Technik.”
This ribbon-cutting event marked a significant milestone for both Vi-Technik and Delaware County. As Vi-Technik establishes its presence in Muncie, the community anticipates the economic and technological contributions that the new headquarters will bring.
