CANPACK Progress
CANPACK, a packaging manufacturer and leading canmaker worldwide, is opening its second aluminum beverage can facility in the U.S. in Muncie, Indiana, on the Southwest Corner of South Cowan and West Fuson Roads. The Poland based company, owned by Giorgi Global Holdings, INC., has 28 production facilities located in 19 different countries around the world. “We chose to expand here because of Indiana’s strong economy and very business friendly environment,” said The President and CEO, Peter Giorgi.
The CANPACK facility reached a construction milestone on June 8th, 2022, not even a year after construction began back in September of 2021. Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb joined Peter Giorgi and the Blue Rock Construction team for a celebratory ceremony marking the completion of the steel framing of the 862,000-square-foot facility. Giorgi and the construction team signed the final steel beam and then lifted it into place.
The Executive Director of The East Central Indiana Regional Planning District (ECIRPD), Bill Walters, noted that the agency handled the acquisition of the land for the facility as well as the negotiations of incentives such as tax breaks for CANPACK. The ECIRPD is proud to be working alongside CANPACK and organizations like Ball State University and Muncie Delaware County Economic Development to aid the development efforts.
The CANPACK facility will bring 345 competitive jobs with great benefits and will be an investment of $380 million into Delaware County and Indiana. CANPACK is currently hiring for several different positions and starting the training process. Jobs available include Machine Technicians, Quality Control, Electrical / Automation Technicians, Maintenance Technicians / Millwrights, Chemical Process Technicians, Tooling Specialists, Forklift Drivers, Decorator Technicians working with Lithography, Support Functions – Accounting, Engineering, Procurement, Production Planning, EHS, Human Resources and more.
