Nestled in the heart of Delaware County, Iceburg Ice Cream is quickly emerging as a local gem, beckoning locals and visitors alike to indulge in a sweet escape. Located at 913 W State St, Albany, IN, this charming place began as a mere dream for a young student at Delta High School. Now, under the passionate co-owners Cameron and Denise Thornburg, a mother-son duo, Iceburg Ice Cream has blossomed into a beloved community hotspot.
What began modestly, with appearances at farmers markets and trailer events, has evolved into a full-fledged establishment offering delectable homemade ice cream and mouthwatering food options. In 2018, armed with determination and a concession trailer, the Thornburgs embarked on their entrepreneurial journey, going around Indiana to spread joy with their frozen delights to various events. The demand for their homemade ice cream soared, evident from the lines that wound around the trailer during events.
It was on January 28th, 2021, that Iceburg Ice Cream officially made their mark on the Albany community opening their doors to the locals. Boasting an array of flavors to include every palate, from classic vanilla and chocolate to the whimsical cotton candy and berry flavors, Iceburg Ice Cream ensures there’s something for everyone. Their rotating selection of homemade ice cream and soft serve keeps patrons eagerly anticipating new favorites, with options catering to lactose-free, keto-friendly, and sugar-free preferences.
While Iceburg is renowned for its heavenly ice cream creations, their culinary skill extends beyond frozen delights like their tenderloins and fries. Furthermore, patrons can also indulge in Concannon’s bakery treats.
Reflecting on their journey, Denise and Cameron proudly announce their best achievement as winning the title of “Best Ice Cream in Delaware County” from Muncie’s Quest for the Best. Iceburg Ice Cream reopened their doors last Saturday, February 10th, for ice cream treats only, the anticipation among Delaware County residents is visible.
