Encouraging Community Education: Understanding Lead Exposure

In 2020, the Delaware County Redevelopment Commission hired Mundell & Associates, Inc. to conduct an environmental investigation of the South Muncie Industria Center, a historically industrial area with concerned residents. Mundell’s investigation found no consistent, area-wide heavy metal contamination above residential public health screening levels in the surrounding areas. Nevertheless, residents, particularly those with private wells and in urban areas, are advised to educate themselves about other potential sources of lead in soil and well water that affect people nationwide.
