ECIRPD’S Third Board Meeting of 2024 Recap
The ECI Regional Planning District convened for its third board meeting of 2024 on Tuesday, August 13th, to address organizational changes, upcoming plans, and more.
Kicking off the meeting was Annie Cruze-Porter a representative from Purdue University with a presentation discussing updates with the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). For those who don’t know, CEDS is a summary of economic conditions in a region. She showed the changes in job rates since COVID-19 and what still needs addressed in the economy. Many occupations had growing rates, but a few, such as teachers, had been declining. The entire presentation is available here ECIdata.
Updates were provided on ongoing projects, including Jay County’s OOR program, READI 2.0, and the 2025 executive board. The OOR program has received over one hundred applications, and the commissioners are in the process of selecting the final grant recipient. Discussions also covered financial and budget updates on newer initiatives, such as the USDA, EPA, EDA, Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants, and the CCMG project. If you want to be a part of the next boarding, it will take place on November 12, 2024, at the Innovation Connector at 3:00 PM. We encourage the public to come and ask questions. We hope to see you there!
