ECIRPD Connects and Learns at Purdue Road School

Bill Walters and Michelle Badders of the ECI Regional Planning District attended the Purdue Road School Transportation Conference & Expo on March 17th and 18th in West Lafayette. During their time at the conference, they participated in a wide range of sessions and networking opportunities focused on transportation, roadways, and bridge infrastructure.

They attended sessions on topics such as strategic planning, project updates, design impacts on local communities, ADA compliance, and the implementation of roundabouts. These classes help them stay up to date on current practices and better understand how different transportation decisions can affect communities.

In addition to the educational sessions, they spent time in the conference’s exhibit hall, which featured booths from companies and organizations across Indiana. This space offered opportunities to connect with engineering firms and industry professionals, allowing them to exchange ideas and build relationships that can support the East Central Indiana region. They also sat in on sessions covering information on the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

Overall, the experience provided a strong balance of learning and collaboration. By attending Road School, the ECI Regional Planning District team strengthened its knowledge base, gained exposure to updated procedures and policies, and built meaningful connections with transportation leaders from across the state.
