Making a Lasting Impact with Back To School Event, 1,500 Attendees Benefited

ECI Regional Planning District has had a fulfilling and productive few weeks as they actively participated in the Back To School Events of two different counties—The Montpelier Back to School Carnival, and the most recent event, the Hearts and Hands Back to School Backpack and Shoe Giveaway at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. At the fairgrounds, individuals had the heartwarming experience of witnessing children accompanied by their families, walking through the doors to receive essential items for the upcoming school year. From socks and new shoes to fresh pairs of jeans and school supplies, each child was equipped with the necessities to start off the school year on the right foot. Each child also received their very own brand-new backpack! The tremendous success of the event can be attributed to the outstanding coordination by Kay Walker and Heather Koons, whose efforts touched the hearts of many. This touching event saw an incredible turnout, with more than 1,500 attendees showing up to support the initiative and embrace the spirit of community.

Kay Walker and Heather Koons deserve immense praise for the flawless coordination of the event. Their dedication and hard work have not only benefited the children but also demonstrated the power of community involvement and the potential to create positive change. The event’s astounding turnout of more than 1,500 children is a testament to the value of such initiatives and the willingness of people to come together to support the younger generation’s education and well-being. ECI Regional Planning District was proud to commit to making a difference in the lives of children and families in these counties. Earlier this year, Administrative Assistant Michelle Badders presented a check of $3,000 to this event and was delighted to see the donation pay off the morning of July 29th. “There were a lot of emotions shed that morning,” said Badders.

These events serve as an inspiring example of how a collaborative effort can uplift communities and foster hope for a brighter future. Stay tuned for more events like this one to come this year.
