ECIRPD’S Fourth Board Meeting of 2024 Recap
The East Central Indiana (ECI) Regional Planning District held its fourth board meeting of 2024 on Tuesday, November 12th. The meeting focused on organizational updates, strategic plans, and progress on ongoing initiatives.
The new board members for 2025 were announced as follows:
- Randy Dunnick: President
- Bill Rock: Vice President
- Ron Stewart: Secretary
- Kylene Swackhamer: Treasurer
Project Updates on the USDA, BEST, EPA Brownfield, EDA and CEDS, and SS4A
USDA Funding: Of the $60,000 USDA grant, $20,000 has been secured, with work ongoing to obtain the remaining funds.
BEST Grant: Efforts are underway to finalize BEST Grant #6.
EPA Brownfield Grant: Progress continues on the $500,000 EPA Brownfield grant, with $90,000 remaining. Currently, 30 properties are being evaluated. Plans are in motion to apply for an additional $500,000 EPA grant for 2025.
EDA and CEDS: The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) grant is in the final stages of drafting and merging. Completion is expected soon. The team is also exploring a new grant opportunity to support interns, aiming for a July 2025 start.
Safe Streets for All (SS4A): Efforts are focused on securing a $500,000 SS4A grant to fund a new contract in the near future.
