Jay County to be hosting a Broadband Fireside Chat to Discuss Broadband Infrastructure Plans in the County
JAY COUNTY, Ind. — On April 6th, 2023, at 5 p.m, the Jay County Development Corporation will be hosting a conference at its headquarters at 118 S Meridian St. in Portland, IN, to discuss the basics of broadband infrastructure, why it’s important, and what Jay County has been doing to build it out and support the community.
This conference will be hosted by Travis Richards, the Executive Director of the JCDC, alongside Gary Thompson— an American Connection Corps Fellow serving as an AmeriCorps Service Member with the East Central Indiana Regional Planning District, an initiative of Lead for America and the American Connection Project—who has been working on this broadband infrastructure project for Jay County as well as others like it.
The desired outcome of this conference is to inform residents about broadband infrastructure and about the projects that Jay County and the ECI Regional Planning District are working on to reach people who are either underserved or unserved completely by Internet Service Providers. Richards and Thompson want to be as transparent as possible with residents about what the process will be like and all that goes into this work. This conference will be recorded and uploaded to the Jay County Development Corporation’s website as well as the ECI Regional Planning District’s website for those who cannot attend.
