Community Spotlight: Grains and Grill

Nestled in Grant County, at 407 W Washington St, Fairmount, IN 46928, you’ll find Grains and Grill, a culinary gem that embodies the spirit of comfort dining with a modern twist. Joanie and Barry Howard returned to Fairmount, Indiana, to revive the old John Deere dealership into this beloved restaurant in 2015. Despite Fairmount’s fame as the birthplace of James Dean and home to Jim Davis, creator of Garfield, the Howards opted to let their menu shine independently, captivating locals and visitors alike.

At Grains and Grill, innovation meets tradition with their in-house brewery, Bad Dad Brewing Company, established in 2016. With a rotating selection of about a dozen craft beers on tap and artisanal pizzas fired up throughout the week, this family-run establishment is a dynamic blend of brewery and pizzeria, with one son expertly managing the brewing operations while the other commands the pizza oven.

Prepare your tastebuds for a journey at Grains and Grill. From classics like steak and mashed potatoes to indulgent pasta dishes and colossal pork tenderloins, each bite is a symphony of flavors meticulously curated to delight. Appetizers range from beloved bar staples like pretzel sticks to upscale treats like shrimp cocktails, satisfying every craving. Whether you’re in the mood for a Maple Pecan Salmon or a towering 40oz tomahawk ribeye, Grains and Grill has just what you’re after.

Please note that Grains and Grill welcomes guests Wednesday through Saturday, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Operating hours are Wednesday/Thursday from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday/Saturday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
