Employee Spotlight: Officer of Community Engagement – Anna King-Cross

Meet Anna King-Cross, ECIRPD’s newly appointed Officer of Community Engagement. Anna graduated from Ball State University with a Master of Public Administration. She is local to Muncie, Indiana, and enjoys being able to work and help support the community she lives in. At ECI Regional Planning District, she is excited to start her new role as an Officer of Community Engagement, with a heavy focus on grant writing and administration, and some event planning for local fundraisers and community endeavors.

In her free time, she really enjoys serving on community boards that help broaden her impact, one of which she has been serving on the longest is the Peace and Conflict Advisory Board, and she is currently seeking more opportunities that continue to align with her passions. She’s expressed feeling blessed that her job continues to advance the East Central Indiana region while supporting her passions in grant writing. This passion comes from her love of law; while in her undergrad program, she spent most of her time in the legal studies department learning all that she could, with constitutional law being a special interest.

Now that she has completed her master’s program, she plans to continue her passion for law by starting a doctoral or law degree within the next five years. Her future career goals look like advancing and developing her community as a grant writer, private consultant, or in public office. Starting this new role, every day is different, and her projects are vast, helping her diversify and refine her skillset. This new role will provide her with many opportunities to give back in ways she hasn’t been able to previously, one of which is by offering her skill set to be replicated by helping teach different workshops. Overall, there are many new adventures that this role presents, and she is excited to explore and learn.
